...Bulls lose to Clippers...,11-9, 1st in Central...

Hmmm...

Well, the Bulls big free-agent acquisitions so far have been Kirk Hinrich, Vladimir Radmanovic, Nazr Mohammed and Marco Belinelli.

Malcolm Thomas was impressive in summer league so if they don't sign him then I'm not sure why they even bother to bring in FAs for summer league.

They traded Korver to Atlanta for cash and opted not to bring Watson and Brewer back. Asik's offer sheet from Houston will likely go unmatched.

So, as of right now, the Bulls' opening day roster will look much like this:

C Joakim Noah       Nazr Mohammed
PF Carlos Boozer       Taj Gibson                     Malcolm Thomas
SF Jimmy Butler       Vladimir Radmanovic
SG Richard Hamilton     Marco Belinelli
PG Kirk Hinrich       Marquis Teague

IL Derrick Rose        Luol Deng

Captain Kirk Returns

Reports from around the web have indicated that Kirk Hinrich has agreed to a two-year deal with the Bulls. His addition makes CJ Watson's departure more likely.

So dust off those old #12 jerseys and rejoice, my friends. Captain Kirk is coming back to Chi-town.

Today in Bulls History: 6/11/97- The Flu Game

June 11th, 1997:  A sickly Jordan puts up 38 points and hits the game clinching 3 to lead the Bulls over Utah in Game 5 of the 1997 Finals. Classic shot of Scottie holding a weak Jordan as they leave the court.

"Slap the Wrist" Technique?

I stumbled upon this video on youtube that shows Mr. Jordan slapping his own wrist in an attempt to get a foul called. I was never aware of this technique and can't believe I never noticed it during all my years of Jordan watching. What a sneaky SOB that Jordan fellow was. Sneaky indeed.

ESPN Michael Jordan Commercial

Just saw this commercial on ESPN. Pretty funny.

Until Next Year...

I am a die hard Bulls fan. I watched 70+ games a year during the Tim Floyd and Bill Cartwright eras. I own Eddy Curry, Tyson Chandler, Elton Brand and Ron Artest jerseys.

I'm sorry  to say that I've lost interest in this Bulls/Sixers series.

With one snap of a knee, the Bulls went from championship contender to second-round hopefuls.

If Kyle Korver was as good at basketball as he is giving heartfelt speeches to the Chicago media, the Bulls would be in much better shape.

The Bulls are down 2-1, and even if they manage to beat the Sixers in the first round, they face certain doom in the second round, likely against the Celtics. Imagine the damage Rajon Rondo would do to a Rose-less Bulls team for four games. John Lucas III would likely retire after such a vicious raping.

I don't know where I'm going with this post anymore. I guess I'm just bummed out about such a promising season going down the toilet so quickly. I just try to remember that Mr. Jordan missed almost a full season at Rose's age with a broken foot. We all know what Jordan did when he healed and returned to the court.

Farewell for now, and Go Bears!

Who just bought this shirt for $3?

This guy right here.

Notice the authentic NBA apparel sticker. This gem is fourteen years old and has never been worn. Well, never washed at least...

Anyway, God bless you Salvation Army. God bless you indeed.

Bulls vs Raptors (1995)

I stumbled upon this video on YouTube today and boy is it fun to watch. The 1995-96 team was sick. Check it out. Pippen scored five points in less than 2 seconds!

Glorious

I just wanted to share my delightful ESPN NBA playoff simulation. I must admit that the center image gets me slightly aroused. http://espn.go.com/nba/playoffs/predictions

Worthless Memoribilia

As many of my friends are aware, I am an avid collector of Bulls memorabilia. Today I'd like to share some of my most shameful pieces, and the stories behind them...

Exhibit A:

Marcus Fizer

I am the only American who has framed Marcus Fizer's autograph with his basketball card. I'm also one of seven Americans who has requested Marcus Fizer's signature.

That is a lie. My friend Pedro got this one for me.

Back in our high school days, my friend Pedro and I were employed at the Northbrook Petsmart. Luckily for us, Marcus Fizer, instead of working on his post game, would come in and shop for his dogs. Luckily for me, Pedro had the nerve to bother customers for autographs and give them to me. God bless him.

* In 2000, "Fizer" became a swear when my friend Dan accidentally said "fuck" and "schizer" concurrently. It is one of my most heavily used swear words to this day.

Exhibit B:

Mike Sweetney

Mike Sweetney. "#50 God Bless"

The Sweetney story is an interesting one indeed. The Pedro character from the previous tale and myself went to a Bulls vs. Celtics game one evening. It just so happened to be Sweetney's best game as a pro (I have no idea if he had a better game as a Knick but I doubt it and I'm too lazy to check) with 24 points and 7 rebounds on 10/13 shooting.

So the game ends and we wind up at the Deerfield Brunswick.

I don't remember if Pedro noticed or I did, but guess who was bowling a few lanes over...

Why it was Mr. Michael Sweet Tits Sweetney. Once again, captain Pedro greets and collects an autograph. Glad I had my ticket handy.

Exhibit C:

Kornel David

Cant believe I added an extra "l" on the image.

I was fortunate enough to meet the "Hungarian Jordan" back in 1999 at a my aunt's home. Thats how small the Hungarian community is in America apparently. There has been one Hungarian player in the NBA and I met him at my aunt's house (Oh, my family is Hungarian by the way...). Hilarious picture of him, my dad and I to come once I locate it. In 109 games he averaged 5.0 ppg, and 2.8 rpg. Too much palinka I'm guessing.

Exhibit D:

Tyrus Thomas
Notice that I have two autographs. That is because no one showed up at this particular Jewel on this particular day that Tyrus was doing his signing. And I've never seen a player so miserable to be anywhere. I drink an awful lot of Bulls Kool-Aid and I thought Tyrus would be the next Shawn Kemp but F that douche bag. I'm glad that he's averaging 5 ppg for the Bobcats. Biiig douche bag.

Honorable Mention: I have Rusty LaRue and Eddy Curry autographs hiding somewhere in my basement or attic. The Eddy Curry one is on the back of a high school hall pass, thanks again to Pedro and Petsmart.

D-Rose Makes Brandon Jennings His Bitch

Here's video of Derrick Rose's game winner over the Bucks Wednesday night, giving the Bulls their eight victory in a row. T'was a glorious finish indeed.

Which brings us to the obvious choice for...

Stacey Quote of the Game: 3/7/12: "Let me step back and kiss myself, MVP time, Windy City Assassin!"

Up next for the Bulls: Six straight home games! (ORL, UTA, NY, MIA, POR, PHI).

Silly Brandon Jennings...

Noah's First Trip-Dub

Joakim Noah has
averaged 11.8 ppg, 11.4 rpg, 2.7 apg, 1.4 bpg, on .569 shooting the last month and on Wednesday against the Bucks, he went apeshit.

Noah was the first Bulls center to have a triple double since Artis Gilmore did so in 1977 (Thank you CSN) putting up 13 points, 13 rebounds, 10 assists and a block in less than 30 minutes. Not to mention he went 7/7 from the free-throw line.

Had he not taken the first month of the season off, he might have beaten out the almighty Roy Hibbert for the backup center spot on the All-Star team. Regardless, I'm sure he'll enjoy his four day weekend.

Dunk-O-Meter

Just found out that www.cbssports.com has an NBA Dunk-O-Meter- a list of how many dunks each NBA player has on the season. The intrawebs is crazy!

What amazed me even more is the fact that Mr. Carlos Boozer has a total of 13 dunks on the year, ranking him 81st overall. WTF? Omer Asik has five more dunks than him in half as many minutes.

If we wanted to see a bunch of layups and jumpshots we'd watch the WNBA.

Get your act together Carlos.

That is all.

All-Star Reserves Announced Tonight

The day has finally arrived in which the NBA will reveal this years All-Star reserves. We already know that Derrick will be heading to Orlando as a starter, but will Luol Deng or Carlos Boozer make the journey as well? Boozer, probably not, but Deng sure as hell deserves it. If you haven't been watching the Bulls this year and need an explanation, I'll leave it to 7-time NBA All-Star Scottie Pippen.

TNT will announce the East and West reserves tonight at 6 pm CT, prior to the Celtics/Lakers game. Coaches turned in their votes for for 2 guards, 2 forwards, 1 center and 2 wild cards on Tuesday. Here's how I would have voted:

WEST

G: Steve Nash (Suns)
G: Russell Westbrook (Thunder)
F: Kevin Love (Timberwolves)
F: Dirk Nowitzki (Mavericks)
C: LaMarcus Aldridge (Blazers)
W: Tony Parker (Spurs)
W: Al Jefferson (Jazz)

Close Calls: Kyle Lowry, Pau Gasol.

*I gave Jefferson the last spot over Lowry because I already had 3 point guards.

EAST

G: Deron Williams (Nets)
G: Joe Johnson (Hawks)
F: Paul Pierce (Celtics)
F: Chris Bosh (Heat)
C: Amare Stoudemire (Knicks)
W: Luol Deng (Bulls)
W: Andre Iguodala (76ers)

Close Calls: Danny Granger, Brandon Jennings, Josh Smith, Rajon Rondo

*I'd rather give the honor to a guy like Amare (or is it Amar'e now?) at center than give it to a scrub (in All-Star terms) like Roy Hibbert. And Rondo is overrated. I think he'll get voted in but I won't understand it. The 14-10 Celtics will probably still end up with 4 All-Stars...

Ya know, the Bulls haven't had two All-Stars since 1998...

UPDATE: LUOL MADE IT!!! view the lineups here.

Stacey Impressions

Bulls players do their best Stacey King impressions in this CSN Chicago ad:

"That's a poster! That's a poster right there!"

Today in Bulls History

February 7th, 1988: Jordan wins MVP at NBA All-Star Game held in Chicago. He racked up 40 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 steals and 4 blocks en route to a 138-133 victory for the East All-Stars. Jordan had also won the Slam Dunk contest the day prior.

Unfortunately, I was just under 2 years old at the time and, for unknown reasons, the All-Star Game hasn't been held in Chicago since. Houston will host its third since 1988 next season while LA, Phoenix and Orlando will have hosted 2 each. I'm not sure what the deal is but I'd murder some children to see Derrick Rose play in an All-Star game at the United Center. Luol Deng too, dammit.

This video features some delightful Jordan moments:

And some more Jordan happiness:

CSN Shot of the Night

After Scalabrine entered the game, CSN kept zooming in on this red headed Nets fan and then showed them side by side. Maybe it's Scal's brother? I found it to be quite humorous. (Click image to enlarge)

Dun Dun Dun

Well, look who's back!

Former Bull, Eddy Curry, played in his first NBA game since 2009, Thursday night. In six minutes for the Heat, he put up six points, and grabbed three rebounds. Unfortunately (for the Heat), he was the only player for Miami with a negative +/-.

Apparently he's lost like 600 lbs. and is in the best shape of his career. I guess I'm happy for him but I have a sneaky suspicion he'll soon switch back to his Dunkin' diet. As a Bull, he lost weight and claimed to be in top shape and he still couldn't average more than six boards a game before eventually blowing up to nearly 400 lbs. Hopefully he'll lose a few games for Miami.

Update: Here are a couple links with more info

Stacey Quote of the Game: 1/11/12 vs. Washington

"This is like a bad men's league on a sunday afternoon... I've seen some better games at the 'Y'."

And in case you missed Mike James' debut, the Bulls didn't even bother to put his name on his jersey.

I forgot about this gem. I submitted this masterpiece to effortchicago.com in June of 2010. I feel bad about my portrayal of Brian Scalabrine considering he's become a Bulls legend. Boy was I bored that day!
